WWE Night Of Champions 2025: 8 Things That Must Happen

'King' Cody Rhodes is coming for wanted man John Cena after WWE's next PLE.

There's nothing quite like a smooth, drama-free build towards the next supershow, eh? WWE hasn't had that ahead of Night Of Champions. Reports screeching into view about political unrest, title matches being scrapped, potential dangers for the roster and staff, and production workers being stuck in Qatar hasn't exactly helped, but the booking on TV has been largely straightforward and enjoyable at least.

Besides, there's a lot to get pumped up for heading into this show. John Cena and CM Punk go head to head for the first time in well over a decade (their last match ever, in fact), and WWE will crown a new King and Queen Of The Ring in Riyadh. As if that wasn't enough, there's also a tasty-looking United States Title bout, a 'Street Fight', and a celebration in order for overlooked WWE roster hopeful Karrion Kross actually making the card.

Hooray!

Night Of Champions is mere set up for bigger things to come at SummerSlam in August. Triple H and crew do have another stop for Saturday Night's Main Event on 12 July, but that doesn't feel urgent right now. No, it's the latest trip to Saudi that's stealing all of the headlines for a good reason - it'll have SummerSlam consequences at the top title table.

Here's everything that simply must happen on Saturday evening. Who should be 'King'? Who should be 'Queen'? Which titles (if any) should change hands? There are loads of questions to answer. Don't go putting any bets on The Rock actually showing up for once either.

Someone else might though...

8. Solo Sikoa Wins The United States Title

So, to paraphrase Paul Heyman, this is more of a spoiler than a prediction: Some reading are going to hate what's said here, because Jacob Fatu is definitely one of WWE's rising main event mega-stars and Solo Sikoa has shown a bit of personality as more of a comedic character in recent times. So, why would the writers even entertaining taking the United States belt from Jacob?!

Two words. Summer. Fest. No, wait! One word (sort of). SummerSlam.

There's immediate value in Solo cheating like a no-good son-a-ma-gun to win the US Title, then Fatu regaining the midcard strap in a gimmick match over SummerSlam weekend. WWE should really be aiming to tell a multi-PLE story with these guys rather than burning it on this Saudi show and calling it quits. There's more to Fatu vs. Solo than Night Of Champions, let's be real.

Maybe Hikuleo can debut as Solo’s new enforcer. He surprisingly showed up to work a dark match right before a recent episode of SmackDown went live on air, and that was surely Hunter's way of gauging fan response. Also, it’s safe to say that JC Mateo isn’t exactly cutting it as a Fatu replacement. Jeff Cobb can still play a role in the story, but he isn't threatening enough overall.

Hikuleo costing Jacob and becoming a bigger brick wall the 'Samoan Werewolf' has to sledgehammer through before wresting his title back from Sikoa sounds ideal for coming weeks and months into early-August. It'll hurt in the short-term, but everything will be worth it in the grand scheme of things.

Cue everyone shouting, 'We hate you, title changes!'.
