Vince McMahon's name was publicly mentioned in a WWE setting for the first time in a long time during Friday's 2025 Hall Of Fame ceremony. Triple H brought the disgraced former figurehead up during his speech. In fairness, Hunter kinda had to - his story wouldn't feel complete without at least acknowledging the impact his father in law had on his life and career.

"I wouldn't be standing here without him", Triple H said.

Then, he went on to explain things further by saying McMahon didn't "just give [him] a shot creatively", but also taught him a lot in general life. Of course, 'The Game' is married to Vince's daughter Stephanie, and he mentioned how McMahon is grandfather to his three daughters. However, Hunter did admit that things are "complicated"; he called it "a complicated story" and "a complicated relationship".

"Complicated" could be viewed as an understatement considering all the legal noise currently surrounding Vince.

Triple H Admitted To "Avoiding" The McMahon Topic

Before bringing Vince's name up, Triple H did also relent that: "There's one topic I've been avoiding all night". He surely knew that publicly thanking McMahon would get a negative reaction from many within the pro wrestling community and indeed within the wider media, but Hunter again explained why he had to talk about Vince.

"When someone shapes your life that much, you owe them more than thanks", he added. Then, Trips closed by saying: "Love you, Vince". It's that last comment that'll get the most attention from people who'd rather WWE just ignored McMahon or moved on from his now-tarnished legacy.

Triple H also unveiled a bronze statue of himself on the night. Further, he choked back tears when thanking some of his best friends, peers and on-screen rivals during a memorable speech.
