Rikishi BLASTS WWE For Ending Jey Uso's World Title Reign (WWE News)

WWE legend Rikishi isn't happy with Jey Uso's 51-day World Title reign.

Rikishi doesn't think WWE gave his son Jey Uso the best chance to prove he could succeed in the role of World Heavyweight Champion on flagship show Raw. Gunther ended Jey's 51-day reign on Monday's episode, and there's since been talk that Uso will now go back to tag-team action with his brother Jimmy rather than continuing to fly as a singles star.

His father told fans tuning into his 'Off The Top' show that he's disappointed by the booking process for Jey. In fact, he thinks members of WWE's writing team should be fired for "fail[ing] him" because they couldn't "come up with something strong to keep pushing your champion". The company Hall Of Famer was also quick to point out that he has no issues with Gunther getting the belt again - he called the Austrian "a hell of a talent".

Rikishi's problem is more with the length of Uso's "short-lived" reign generally. He doesn't think 51 days was nearly long enough, and reckons there's no way WWE would ever do something like this to John Cena or Randy Orton. The angry dad specifically named both of those stars during his rant.

It's worth noting that both Cena and Orton have experienced multiple World or WWE Title reigns shorter than 51 days throughout their careers. John has had a whopping 9 runs that went less than that. Meanwhile, Randy is the same. A full 9 of his own top title reigns went less than 51 days.

Rikishi Has Issues With Short Jey Uso Title Reigns Generally

That's another statement Kish made on his podcast when criticising WWE for the way they've booked his boy as a solo artist. He also reckons Uso's run as Intercontinental Champion between 23 September-21 October 2024 (28 days in total) was too brief as well. However, there wasn't much to complain about when the promotion pushed Jey as Royal Rumble winner then put the World Title on him at WrestleMania 41 after that.

Rikishi added that Uso "put his heart and soul into getting to that main event spot". Then, once he "finally" reached the mountain top, WWE top brass didn't "do him justice" as champ. To the legend, that's "the real problem" here. He badly wishes management had stuck with his son for a while longer to see what happened next.

Triple H and WWE creative thought otherwise and decided to go in a different direction.
